Custom Storage. Custom Lithium.

Known for their expertise in manufacturing A-Grade, super-practical 4WD storage solutions, the Custom Overland Solutions (COS) team designed and installed a set up for Mathew's 200 Series Landcruiser.

The drawers included a slimline water tank with water pump mounted in front of the draws and behind the rear seat. Plus a COS compressor switch panel with air outlet, ready for an ARB compressor installation and a COS custom power / switch panel with built in water connection fitting.

Despite having a dual battery system installed and modified by several companies thereafter, the system had never functioned properly.

Mathew wanted us to remove the messy dual battery system, set it up as per our recommendation and sort the Cruiser out once and for all.

Out it all came, leaving only a roof solar panel and four mini flood lights.  Under the bonnet went two new lead calcium batteries, reconnected in parallel to facilitate good starting and a lot of reserve capacity, with only components which operate when the vehicle is running, linked to the batteries.

For power to accessories such as an Engel fridge, outdoor lights and USB accessory charging, we built a custom 100Ah lithium battery system, the CI-LC200’S100-40, which sits away under the left hand wing of the draws.

The CI-LC200’S100-40 features:

  • A custom RV Lithium System 100Ah Battery, designed and built in our WA workshop

  • A Redarc 40A DC Vehicle and Solar Charger with a Blue 50A Anderson plug connection for Vehicle Input, and a yellow 50A Anderson plug for Solar Input

  • A 500A Victron Smart Shunt Bluetooth Battery Monitor which means the meter can be read from a smart device

  • Two 50A Anderson plugs for up to 100A of power output and easy connection to the fuse box and/or switch panels.

CI-LC200’S100-40 is capable of charging at a rate of 42A per hour, which means if 80% or 80Ah is used, it would only take a 2 hour drive to be fully recharged.

Additionally, if the Engel fridge used 30Ah in a day, it would only take a 25 minute drive one way and 25 minutes back again, to fully charge the battery, and that's not allowing for solar input!

Mathew’s temporary roof top tent has a 250W solar panel on top and this alone would easily keep the battery full when running the fridge.

Along with the RV Lithium System, we managed to squeeze an ARB Twin Head Compressor neatly under the wing of the draws.

We wired the compressor to the new start batteries and the COS compressor panel, with the compressor switch only switching when the vehicle engine is running. This provides maximum battery power to the compressor and the batteries can not be flattened by accident.

After installing two fuse boxes and wiring up the COS power / switch panel, the water pump, USB and cig sockets were good to go.

Next, we connected the Engel fridge, roof top flood lights, and the 150W solar panel, which are designed to be easily connected using Yellow Andersons plugs. This allows for the panel to be conveniently detached, and a temporary roof top tent to be installed, along with its' own 250W solar panel.

For added convenience, we installed a power cable for the roof top tent to power LED lighting and charge phones.

The final touch was a white Rock Light installed to the top of the tailgate to light up those nifty COS drawers and their contents.
